Basic Wings requirement: Task_1052 - PERFORM VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS MANEOUVRES

6. Basic Wings – Perform VMC flight manoeuvres

6.1. Objective: Perform VMC flight manoeuvres as per task 1052 UH-1h ATM 2007

6.2. Competencies expected: The pilot will demonstrate

1. Turns: Clear the aircraft. Rollout on desired heading ± 10 degrees.

2. Climbs and descents: a. Clear aircraft. b. Stop climb/descent at desired altitude ± 100 feet.

3. Traffic pattern flight: a. Enter, operate in, and depart a traffic pattern.

6.2.1. climbing/descending and stopping the rate of climb/descent while maintaining a stable altitude, speed and direction.

Stop Climb/descent, ±100 ft of target range (10% VSI rule)

6.2.2. accelerating and de-accelerating airspeed whilst maintaining a stable altitude

Maintain Heading ±10 degrees

6.2.3. 90 degree turns <30 degrees of bank with roll-out ± 10 degrees of desired heading

Maintain selected bank angle, ±10 degrees.

Roll out on desired heading, ±10 degrees. (10 degree rule)

6.2.4. decent and ascent at approx 500’fpm with a stable airspeed

Maintain 500 fpm rate of climb or descent, ±200 FPM.

6.2.5. entering/operating in and departing from a traffic pattern

Takeoff, Climbout straight ahead at 500fpm, to an Altitude of 400ft, and speed of 70kts, then

Turn Crosswind, and continue the Climb, and Acceleration.

Turn Downwind at target Altitude 700ft and target Speed 90kts.

Turn Base @ 45 deg forward of landing spot.

Adjust airspeed as required and initiate a descent just prior to banking.

Turn to Final leg

Turns 90* Bank Angles < 30*

Enter the downwind leg midfield at a 45-degree angle at pattern altitude / airspeed.

6.2.6. a runway landing
