Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI)

The RMI is an ADF with the needle superimposed over the Directional Gyro (DG) instead of a fixed card

The direction indicator is slaved electronically to a remote indicating magnetic compass.

The RMI simplifies the pilots task by cutting out the middle man and indicating the magnetic track directly.

The point of the RMI needle always indicates the magnetic track to the station, while the tail of the RMI needle always indicates the magnetic track from the station.
